Collina Strada

New York-based designer Hillary Taymour’s Collina Strada is both fashion label and eco-activist. Repurposing with purpose, the brand uses Rose Sylk plant derivative fabrics and upcycled deadstock from the Kantamonto market in Ghana to drive a more sustainable textile economy. An advocate of self-expression and self-realization, her designs use exaggerated, layered silhouettes, asymmetric cuts of florals, hand-dyed gradations and psychedelics, layered with a riot of ribbons, lace, rhinestones and ruffles to create an exuberant kaleidoscopic post-punk statement.

The collections

Adamant that conscious upcycling is the future of the fashion industry, Collina Strada founder Hilary Taymour begins the design process with her choice of handpicked deadstock textiles. Naturally drawn to the bright, printed and playful, she mixes and matches to formulate a concept. Extending the inherent Collina Strada DNA of fun and experimentation, which encompasses multi-media collaboration as well as the fashion itself, this collection combines quilting, rose sylk, up-cycled denim, hand-dying and screen-printing with asymmetric construction, voluminous sleeves, oblique hems, and hand appliquéd rhinestone and sequins, to create a uniquely joyous and eclectic selection of dresses, tops, skirts, pants, tees and hoodies.
