Originally released in the early 1970s with code G1553, this shoulder bag is crafted in brown suede and trimmed in light brown leather. A gold-toned metal buckle frames a single tiger head with orange enamel. On the interior 'Made in Italy by Gucci' is embossed in gold with the number 63. This handbag was selected by the Creative Director and Vault archivists for its particularity, character and exceptional vintage condition, and it was reconditioned to the highest standard by in-house artisans. It has been given the number 106 | 21 and will arrive in tailor-made packaging. This rare and beautiful piece should be handled with exceptional care.
In decades past, once a Gucci handbag was finished and inspected, a discreet place was chosen and then hand-stamped in gold with the phrase Made in Italy by Gucci. The now recognizable trademark was accompanied by a number that was used to identify the craftsperson who made the bag. Here, in faded gold, the identification number 63 is still visible as it continues to take part in this bag's story—forever connecting the wearer to its origins.
The tiger head, used throughout Gucci's history, was the source of inspiration for styles created by Alessandro Michele. Here, it is crafted in orange enamel and framed by a buckle as a decorative closure. The brown suede is complemented by light brown leather giving the bag a tonal effect.
As soon as you hold a piece of the Vault, you begin to write a new chapter of its story—instituting a relationship, rather than ownership, that will forever connect one owner to the next. As the years accumulate, every mark or crease is collected onto the surface, continuously altering the item’s appearance and making it unique. Imperfections should be expected and treasured as the journey continues for this piece.
