"Ducks head feathers interlaced
Colophon of refined taste
With its gold silver two-tone beak
It says so much yet doesn’t speak."
Originally produced in the early 1970s, this silver-toned décor taster is finished with an engraved duck head with a gold-toned beak. 'Gucci Italy' is engraved under the beak. This decorative piece was selected by the Creative Director and Vault archivists for its particularity, character and exceptional vintage condition, and it was reconditioned to the highest standard by in-house artisans. It has been given the number 77 | 21 and will arrive in tailor-made packaging. This rare and beautiful piece should be handled with exceptional care.
Initially created in England in the 17th century, and grew to popularity in the 19th century, wine tasters were originally used by merchants looking to taste a wine before purchasing it, or servants ensuring the wine being served was suitable for consumption.
Inspired by the craftsmanship and story of the original taster, Gucci created this silver-toned version in the early 1970s. The engraved feathers of the duck are a testament to the craftsmanship of the product while the gold-tone beak adds an unexpected touch of contrast. This vintage piece can now be used as décor or a precious heirloom.
As soon as you hold a piece of the Vault, you begin to write a new chapter of its story—instituting a relationship, rather than ownership, that will forever connect one owner to the next. As the years accumulate, every mark or crease is collected onto the surface, continuously altering the item’s appearance and making it unique. Imperfections should be expected and treasured as the journey continues for this piece.
