Originally released in the late 1980s, this suitcase is crafted from beige ebony GG Plus canvas. The leather strap closure is intercepted by the emblematic Web in green and red. This suitcase was selected by the Creative Director and Vault archivists to represent the continuous connection between the past and present of the House. The accessory was reconditioned to the highest standard by in-House archivists, and it has been enriched with unique details born from the vision of exploration and experimentation that has always defined Gucci's narrative. This one-of-a-kind piece has been given the number 180 | 22 and will arrive in tailor-made packaging, specially crafted to embody the uniqueness of its design.
Born as an addition to the Original GG, the GG Plus canvas is a durable and resistant fabric first created in the mid-1970s, now evolved in what is known as GG Supreme—a contemporary version used by Alessandro Michele starting from the Fall Winter 2015 collection.
The fabric extends around the rectangular shape and is framed by deep brown leather detailing. The adjustable strap with buckle closure is intercepted by the green and red Web. The stripes can be traced back to the early 1950s and acts as a code of membership recognizable at first glance.
The connection between Gucci's contemporary and past collections is highlighted by unique customizations, which are found first on the brand’s runway shows, then on Vault virtual shelves. A statement on the continuous exploration of the archive to create treasured pieces, with a timeless spirit. Each item has been handpicked for its one-of-a-kind nature, embodying the theme of rarity that a vintage piece possesses. By holding a Vault object, you become part of the House's history by forever writing a piece of its journey through marks or alteration that naturally continue to happen as years go by.
