"Two metal bits around your heart
A testament to the craftsman’s art
Strength and presence in everyway
The perfect companion night or day."
Originally released in the late '70s with code 3115, this blue leather shoulder bag has a partially covered Horsebit. Embossed in gold is the Gucci crest with 'Italy' trademark. This handbag was selected by the Creative Director and Vault archivists for its particularity, character and exceptional vintage condition, and it was reconditioned to the highest standard by in-house artisans. It has been given the number 21 | 21 and will arrive in tailor-made packaging. This rare and beautiful piece should be handled with exceptional care.
The smooth leather of the bag wraps around the middle and ends of the Horsebit, these specific details were noted in the patent request made in 1978 to the Ministry of Industry and Commerce. Part of Gucci’s genetic code, the double ring and bar design has been established as one of the most distinctive elements among the House symbols borrowed from the equestrian world.
Created in the early 1950s, the Gucci coat of arms depicts a knight in armor holding a suitcase and a handbag, while a ship's wheel and a rose balance each side of the figure. The crest was initially applied to all luggage and handbags, but then became an element of brand recognition and identity. Embossed in gold, the crest is still visible on this shoulder bag, carrying a piece of its origin story through the decades.
As soon as you hold a piece of the Vault, you begin to write a new chapter of its story—instituting a relationship, rather than an ownership, that will forever connect one owner to the next. As the years accumulate, every mark or crease is collected onto the surface, continuously altering the item’s appearance and making it completely unique. Imperfections should be expected and treasured as the journey continues for this piece.
