Originally released in the 1970s, this brown suede coat is trimmed in brown leather. Brown enameled metal tiger heads decorate the front pockets while a brown enameled metal tiger head is presented as the buckle of the belt. The lining has the Gucci crest and Gucci logo in cursive while the 'Gucci Made in Italy' is embossed in gold on the leather label. This coat was selected by the Creative Director and Vault archivists for its particularity, character and exceptional vintage condition, and it was reconditioned to the highest standard by in-house artisans. It has been given the number 133 | 21 and will arrive in tailor-made packaging. This rare and beautiful piece should be handled with exceptional care.
The tiger head closure, shown on this coat, was the source of inspiration for the Dionysus handbag line created by Alessandro Michele in the 2015/2016 Fall Winter collection. Here, it is crafted in brown enameled metal and used as the belt buckle and as decorative components on the pockets of this coat. The brown suede is complemented by brown leather giving the coat a tonal contrast effect. This coat appears in the 1972 Gucci catalog.
As soon as you hold a piece of the Vault, you begin to write a new chapter of its story—instituting a relationship, rather than ownership, that will forever connect one owner to the next. As the years accumulate, every mark or crease is collected onto the surface, continuously altering the item’s appearance and making it unique. Imperfections should be expected and treasured as the journey continues for this piece.
